 Om Namai Rudra-

Was on the bus this morning and out of nowhere starting to hum and thenchant- people looked at me sideways but a couple smiled-

and that epitomizes what I bring home from Burning Man after this mythird and best burn- the smiles and genuine fellowship cooperation and loveextended throughout our experience in transforming ourselves into Phlegs andbreakingfree-

Daphne you and Christopher and Twan are Awesome- the temple wasunbelievable and I will try to come early to help build it- Sunday afternoon whilelying on your massage sheet and contemplating the Opera amidst such beauty ayoung goddess bearing a lap dulcimer and her swain with guitar came and sat onthe stairs to the pool and played the perfect music for the moment- and iwas transported into a state of bliss such as I have not seen for too long-you could almost hear the original "Om" as it awakened the universe-

thank you all and a fine time it was indeed- just cannot seem to getused to these 4 walls and clothes and attitude of the world to which we return.

Om Namai Rudra! Boom Shiva Shankar!

Thanx for the reply on the opera info! Ill check out the pics on the BM website. I had glanced over it already but ill take a closer look. It would be great to stay in touch with you about past and future opera info. I was told, as I might have mentioned, that there is going to be a opera video, I would love to hear about that. Let everyone on that end know that I know a lot of people who felt being involved with the opera was a great experience and we are greatful to all of you for giving us the chance to PARTICIPATE! well... thanks again.

I was extremely impressed by this year's Opera! Well Done to everyoneenvolved!

The temple was fantastic, the performers were terrificly bizarre and beautiful, and the music was top notch! I was so intriged by the look of each diffrent clan and their members that I wished I could find out their whole wonderous story of who and what each performer was portraying- And who or what were those incredible insect headed gods on the temple! I find my self unable to stop thinking about it! Totallybewitching!

I was so moved by the performance that I knew I had to help if another opera was going to be created for next year. What can I do? ( for an opera next year?) I'm a professional artist, so I could do body paints, or mask making. I have, and play, a drum. I would love to dance. I would like to offer this, and...

I would be extremely interested in creating a small publication which explains a bit of the story of these fantastic operas- I'm thinking of a black and white comic book ( l create graphic novels for a living) - Something explaining a short bit of history or mythology or the Opera's story, which could then be freely circulated at Burning Man. Like a program or Libretto. I would be grateful for any information you could pass my way.

If you could see my smile on my face you would smile too.

 I love you all

Hello there!
I'm sure you have had tons of response on this year's performance. I for one saw it for the first time, and was blown away. I would definitely say (and I have been) that the opera was my peak experience of the burning man festival this year. What a beautiful and spirit moving performance. I was wondering if there was any pictures of the performance that I could grab from someone, or a site. The spires melting were sooooo beautiful! It seemed as though the fire was breathing and dancing.BRAVO! Keep the beauty!

I do want to say that I'm sure I'll be heavily involved again next year. I'm also sure it'll be like that night I thought of not performing in Rudra...once I saw Pepe out there, my heart clenched, I felt the amazing Power coming together...and I knew I wanted to be a part of it NO MATTER WHAT!!! I'm sure it'll be the same next year. :) I know *me* too well. :)

We are two individuals who participated in the Temple of Rudra Opera and are wondering if you have any insight as to the progress and/or availability of the Official 1998 Rudra Opera Videotape(TM). I was just wondering if you would know if such a video does exist, or may exist in the future.

Because the Opera changed our lives, and we would like to show a video to some non-believers so that they will know what the fuck we are always babbling about.

Thank you very much

Hiya Pepe!
I was one of your Melancholic Monks in the show this year and I just want to tell you that it was a very rewarding experience for me! I joined because I resonated so well with the Melancholic Sect , also I have written and produced an opera much like yours before as well. This made the performance particularly significant for me because I feel that the synchronicity of life's unfolding is becoming increasingly more prevelant in the world. To participate with another group actually doing virtually the same ritualistic performances was an honor and a very welcomed joy! The Melancholics also held a very sacred space throughout the days and nights, and this I felt gave the performance a distinctly sanctified aura as the play culminated in the Temple Burn. I would very much like to offer my services and skills for your nextproduction.

I will try to contain my enthusiasm (and my orgyasm too) and find something useful to do with my skills of imagination, art, creativity and music. I hope to grow rich in ideas as we all work together to create this new opera. I hope I can contribute something useful to you all. Thanks for putting me on the list..........I will be practicing my Haitian-Juju rhythms until I hear more about about what I can do to help with the Opera

Sounds like Pepe, Christopher and Twan had a very enlightening experience in Haiti. Based upon Pepe's description of your experiences, the 1999 version of the BM opera will likely be spectacular.

I'd just like to reaffirm my offer to help with a photo record of the event this year. And to do anything else with whatever talents I have which may contribute to the Voodoo opera.

Let me know

She will be one of the people in the sect I will put together. You might ask her if she wants to be on the opera list as well. I have already put the word out and am having no problem finding sectees!!!! Peace and creative bliss!!!!!!

I am coming to Burning Man this year, which will be my second appearance, and would like to participate in the Opera. I watched the opera last year, and was fascinated by it. I live in Arizona, so it may be hard for me to make many rehearsals, but I can come to the Bay area semi-regularly, and I really would like to participate. If this is possible, please let me know.

Pepe's drumming at the SF beachburn is a good example of how spirit canbe translated into drumming. This is what we need magnified x1000 . can you imagine 1000 drummers passing the spirit of voodou drumming around and into the air. the effects on the people will create the setting and feeling for the opera. magic will be in the air..

I am counting the moments until we are together again, writhing under the throbbing echoes of the tribal drumbeat that pulses across the glowing playa. Your messages fan visions of smoldering embers that remained in the one persistent tower of the Temple of Rudra.

The Playa is a safe harbor for our souls and an eternal source of energy and creativity for those who are still human enough to feel the bond of our common origins.

My hunger for the unique experience of the Burning Man grows each day. I am so grateful to each of you for your contributions that make the Burning Man all that it is. At last year's Opera I wanted to be inside the circle so bad, it made me feel cheated in a way to be an observer. This year I hope to be a participant. I look forward to meeting you and working with you. I don't know what role I might play, but any contribution that I can make, would be my priviledge.

Our dear Pepe! Because you can create the impossible and the unimaginable from the undreamed-of, nothing you would say could possibly surprize any of us! If you said we'd be wearing hats made of *pure* gold, I wouldn't doubt it would happen!

I suckle on your postings like a starving new born babe... I'd drink up anything you write to sustain my life from now until Burning Man!
